Nolan Hall’s documentary photos of professional surfers are distinguished in part for their decided disinterest in the action unfolding in the ocean. Rather than train his camera on riders on waves, Nolan’s focus is on the antic and anarchic life of the traveling professional—on land, plane, train and every other means of conveyance. Nolan’s work has appeared in The Surfers Journal, Monster Children, Juxtapoz, Surfer, Stab, The New Yorker, Blue, Nalu, and Rolling Stone; commercial clients include Vans, RVCA, Pilgrim Surf Supply, Rivian, WHR, Raen Optics, The Growlers, True Ames, Fender, Captain Fin, Lusso Cloud, Volcom, Slowtide and Gato Heroi. In addition to his commercial work, Hall has shown his work worldwide including exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, London, Vancouver, Sweden, Australia, Spain & Japan.
